_First and foremost, I am a student of life. With an extensive background in fine arts, visual communications and commercial art, my formative years inspired my love for fashion, design, and inspired interiors. Having seamstresses, interior designers and artists in the family, naturally my passions later expanded to include architecture, industrial design, sustainable design, and furniture. I attended Alberta College of Art after high school and later graduated from the Residential Interiors Program at the University of Alberta. Boasting a certificate from the very first graduating class of Green Design in this program, I more recently started instructing this very class! This September (2014) will be my third year there.
Everything fell into place career-wise once I focused on my true path; my authentic life. The way I conduct my personal life and the choices I make in my daily life are now more-or-less mirrored in the ways I approach design. The personal choices we make daily affect our health, well-being, beauty, longevity, and our futures. The same applies to designers as we make decisions that affect not only the aesthetic, but have impact on our health and our planet. Here, my lifestyle intersects with my business; selecting and creating awareness for healthy, sustainable choices in products, materials, finishes and furnishings whenever possible. Never compromising beauty or the principles of design.
